The Honors College is delighted to invite applications for the Oakland University "Honors College Faculty Fellow for 2014-2015" .

Full-time or part-time faculty are eligible. In general, Honors College Faculty Fellows contribute to advancing the contribution of The Honors College to the university, building university-wide on our aim of developing stronger faculty, student and staff opportunities to work with The Honors College.

-- Role of The Honors College Faculty Fellow --

To provide direct service to The Honors College Dean's office on average of 6 hours a week.

In Fall 2014, this will include making a contribution to the HC100 "Making Discoveries" Honors College Freshmen Colloquium course, and to the HC390 "Honors College Thesis Proposal" course, as well as contributions to development of the "honors in the major" advanced scholarship initiative and some contribution to the organizing of activities and events.

In Winter 2015, this will include making a contribution to the HC390 "Honors College Thesis Proposal" course, and other contributions which could include one or more of the following: contributions to development of the "honors in the major" advanced scholarship course initiative; teaching of a HC course; organizing events; working with the Dean of The Honors College in developing undergraduate research resourcing strategies, linked to developing the Michigan Center for Undergraduate Research (MCUR) and the Center for Research Leadership (CURL); other duties, as explored and discussed with Dean of The Honors College.

-- Honors College Faculty Fellow Criteria --

Full or part time faculty.

Passionate about undergraduate student excellence and the development of undergraduate research.

Demonstrated evidence of developing undergraduate research at Oakland University.

Some knowledge of The Honors College, or a strong desire to gain further knowledge of it.

Beyond the faculty fellow's own disciplinary specialisms, additional areas of expertise might include research methodologies and development; inter-disciplinary collaboration; curriculum design or service learning.

1. Full-time faculty: letter from Department Chair and appropriate Dean's office showing they support you as a Faculty Fellow
Part-time faculty: must be teaching for OU in some capacity in Winter semester, and if needed include a letter of support from Dept. Chair.

4. A letter of recommendation with regard to suitability for the role.

-- Compensation --

The Honors College Faculty Fellow will be paid the equivalent of one course compensation per semester (part-time faculty will receive this as direct compensation; full-time faculty will receive this as $1500 to their department's Supplies and Services, plus teaching replacement costs)
