Oakland University to inaugurate George W. Hynd as its sixth president on April 29

George W. Hynd will be inaugurated as Oakland University's sixth president on April 29, 2015.
The Oakland University Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the presidential inauguration of George W. Hynd, which will take place in the O'rena at 3 p.m. on April 29, 2015.  The inauguration will be immediately followed by a community reception – faculty, staff, students, alumni, community members and university delegates from across the country will be attending. 

At the July 9, 2014, special board of trustees meeting, Hynd was appointed as Oakland University's sixth president, succeeding Betty J. Youngblood. With more than 40 years of educational experience, President Hynd's career includes a number of other leadership roles at nationally recognized universities such as Arizona State University, the College of Charleston (South Carolina), the Medical College of Georgia, Northern Arizona University, Purdue University and the University of Georgia. 

Hynd earned an Ed.D. in psychology from the University of Northern Colorado; an M.Ed. in educational administration and supervision from the University of Guam; as well as master’s and bachelor’s degrees in psychology from Pepperdine University. 

His research in theoretical and clinical issues in the field of clinical child neuropsychology stem from his time as a school psychologist in the Department of Education for the Territorial Government of Guam, and as director of the Center for Clinical and Developmental Neuropsychology. His experience is represented in his 11 co-authored and edited books, 57 book chapters and 153 refereed journal articles.
