OU INC was the center of a Lunch and Learn hosted by two local nonprofits, National Association of Women In Construction Detroit and the US Green Building Council, Detroit Chapter, on March 5th. The event featured several guest speakers: North Coast Roofing Systems/Carlisle Territy Sales Manager Connie Lilley, OU INC Executive Director Amy Butler, OU INC Director of Clean Energy Systems Jim Liedel, Newman Consulting Group, LLC Senior Associate Peggy Matta, and DIRTT Environmental Solutions Representative Joe Fitzgerald.
The event was a tremendous success with approximately 35 people in attendance. The Lunch & Learn covered topics such as energy efficiencies for commercial buildings; the importance of a proper roof for energy use reduction; sustainable design for interior build outs and local green initiatives including the Michigan Battle of Buildings & the emerging 2030 District Detroit.
“The venue was a great place to host our Lunch & Learn,” said Connie Lilley, USGBC, Detroit Vice Chair and Territory Sales Manager for North Coast Roofing Systems /Carlisle Syntec. “The staff were very helpful in making sure we had everything we needed for our guests and the facilities were excellent.”
Although this was the first collaboration between the two nonprofit organizations, more collaboration is on the horizon. “We expect to bring the two organizations together again,” said Lilley. “Both organizations have the same focus of sustainable design & construction.”
