March 2015 Newsletter: Mac-OU INC Happenings: "Mac-OU INC Hosts Leadership Macomb's Business Day"
Leadership Macomb chose the Velocity Center, home to Mac-OU INC, as the ideal location for their designated business day. Objectives for participants included gaining an understanding of the current local, regional and national economic opportunities and challenges, as well as identifying and understanding future growth industries in Macomb County and the opportunities and challenges they face. During this session, participants heard from many leaders, including Jim Jacobs, President of Macomb Community College, Derrin Leppeck, Director of the Macomb Community College Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Andy Appleby, CEO of General Sports, and Michael Ford, CEO of the Regional Transit Authority Southeast Michigan, among others. Participants also enjoyed a tour of the Fiat Chrysler Automotive Sterling Heights Assembly Plant.
Leadership Macomb is a non-profit organization whose 10-month program brings together leaders from numerous institutions, disciplines and backgrounds to obtain relevant, in-depth information about Macomb County, develop long-term business relationships and strengthen their leadership characteristics. Since 1996, 0ver 600 individuals representing more than 120 organizations have participated in the Leadership Macomb program.
Leadership Macomb seeks to produce a network of informed community leaders who understand the roles and relationships of people and systems that support and sustain our community, enable graduates and others to engage in civic leadership, and strengthen organizational and community relationships.
