OU input sought on value of college degrees in today's marketplace
Oakland University faculty and staff are invited to participate in one of a series of Community Conversations that focus on “Getting to Work: Opportunity and Hurdles to Prosperity in Michigan.”
College of Arts and Sciences Dean Kevin Corcoran, Director of Alumni and Community Engagement Sue Helderop, and Political Science Chair and Professor David Dulio are working in partnership with the Center for Michigan, a nonprofit and nonpartisan “think-and-do” tank located in Ann Arbor, to coordinate the conversation.
Discussion will center on issues related to college value and affordability, as well as career navigation. Separate conversations for students, alumni and members of the community. In sum, they will be among more than 150 taking place through June. More than 3,000 Michigan residents are expected to participate.
The faculty and staff discussion will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, in the Oakland Room of the Oakland Center. Participation is limited to 50 employees, and lunch will be provided. Those interested in participating will need to register online by Friday, March 20.
The Center for Michigan has agreed to return to OU and present its overall findings, as well as from just those we host, this fall. To learn more about the Community Conversations and the Center for Michigan, visit thecenterformichigan.net.
