Update: OU closed Monday, Feb. 2 and declares snow emergency for Sunday, Feb. 1

Update: In addition to the Snow Emergency detailed below, OU will be closed on Monday, Feb. 2, due to inclement weather.  All campus activities are canceled.

Oakland University has also declared a Snow Emergency in response to ongoing snowfall and is requiring all vehicles to be moved from snow emergency lots. The snow emergency will take effect at 10 p.m. today, Sunday, Feb. 1, and continue through 6 a.m. tomorrow.

To comply with University Policy 482, campus community members with vehicles on Main Campus must move them out of all campus lots except the Ann V. Nicholson and Matthews Court student apartment parking lots and the covered levels of the P-29 and P-32 parking structures. Vehicles in designated overnight parking spots – except those already parked in the lots listed above – are subject to Policy 482 and must be moved.

Vehicles left in snow emergency lots after 10 p.m. will be impounded at owners' expense. Retrieval of vehicles will require payment of a $100 impound fee and may also involve storage fees of $20 per day.

The snow emergency declaration has been made independent of any decision to cancel classes or close the campus.

As of 4:13 p.m. Sunday, the University has announced that the Recreation and Athletic Center, Kresge Library and Oakland Center will be closing at 6 p.m. until further notice.

Members of the campus community should visit oakland.edu or consult other school closing information sources to learn whether additional weather-related announcements have been made.

Individuals needing to move their vehicles to the Ann V. Nicholson and Matthews Court student apartment parking lots or the covered levels of the P-29 and P-32 parking structures are encouraged to use the Bear Bus system, if necessary, to return to preferred destinations on campus. to learn more, visit oakland.edu/bearbus.
