Oakland University’s Student Org Challenge a success

Ultimate Frisbee Club at OU had 119 donors to lead the way!
During this year’s All University Fund Drive fundraising efforts, Oakland University launched a new Student Philanthropy Month campaign, the Student Org Challenge.

In all, 25 student groups and 419 student donors jumped on board to raise money for their groups and have a chance to win up to $1,000 more. For this challenge, only gifts from students counted towards the competition, although OU employees and family members of students also made gifts to their favorite organization, bringing the total number of donors to 477.

“Congratulations to the Student Philanthropy Month Student Org Challenge participants,” said Adrianne Penney, assistant director of Annual Giving and advisor to the OU student philanthropy committee. “Combined, the groups raised more than $7,000 for their clubs and winners earned an additional $3,500 in award money from the president’s office.”

Penney added, “The Student Org Challenge was a new approach to introducing OU students and their campus groups to benefits of philanthropy. The competitiveness and feedback of the challenge tells me that it has been a big success.”

Winners of the Student Philanthropy Month Student Org Challenge included:

Number of Donors:
1) Ultimate Frisbee Club at OU
2) Tau Kappa Epsilon
3) Organization of Diversity and Health

Number of Dollars:
