November 2014 Newsletter: Client Company Spotlight: "Nostrum Energy, LLC"

Macomb-OU INCubator client company Nostrum Energy LLC has been making strides in recent months with its combustion systems and fuel injection components. In recognition of its latest accomplishments, Nostrum has been named a finalist for the 2014 Platts Global Energy Awards in the Leading Technology, Sustainable Innovation category from a pool of nearly 250 nominations.

Nostrum has applied key injector technology to the automotive performance aftermarket as a result of strategic partnerships and product applications set in motion at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. High Flow injectors with superior fuel atomization from Nostrum’s patented technology will be available in the high performance automotive aftermarket before the end of 2015.

In addition, after two years of advanced fuel injection research, Nostrum is now applying its proprietary Gasoline direct injection technology to a 2014 Cadillac ATS demonstration vehicle. After winning Securing America’s Future Energy’s (SAFE) inaugural Emerging Innovation Award last year in recognition of its products, which provide unprecedented fuel economy improvements and reduce emissions in today’s internal combustion engines, Nostrum Energy is now in the vehicle demonstration stage. This demonstration vehicle, currently undergoing engine calibration, will demonstrate on-road fuel efficiency improvements with Nostrum’s novel DI injectors.

Michigan Technical University and several of Nostrum’s key suppliers in the southeast MI region are working in sync to seamlessly carry out and complete this project. The demonstration vehicle is expected to be available for Ride & Drive in April 2015, in-step with Nostrum’s technical paper publications at the 2015 SAE World Congress in Detroit, Michigan.
