Oakland University's chapter for a political science national honor society inducts its largest class since its founding in 1983.
Nearly triple the average number of inductees each year, Nu Omega welcomed 58 new members this week. Nu Omega is a chapter of the only honor society for college and university students of government in the United States, Pi Sigma Alpha.
"I think the interest in this student organization and honorary is a testament to the growing interest in Political Science and International Relations as well as liberal arts," said Professor Terri Towner, the faculty advisor for Nu Omega.
A Holiday Dinner and Induction Ceremony was held at Meadow Brook Hall on Monday, Nov. 17. The Mayor of Rochester Hills, Bryan Barnett (SBA '98), delivered the keynote speech. He talked about his time as an OU student, serving as OU student body president, his role on the city council, and serving as mayor. Fielding questions from the inductees, Mayor Barnett also talked to students about why they were interested in politics and if they were considering running for office.
