The Steering Committee of the Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research has drafted the attached community sign-on letter to be sent to Members of Congress when they return to Washington after the mid-term elections.
The letter requests that Congress “make fiscal year (FY) 2015 appropriations legislation the top priority” for the lame duck session and “to work in a bipartisan manner to pass final, omnibus spending legislation before the end of the calendar year. This omnibus spending package should include an FY 2015 Labor-HHS-Education appropriations bill that restores funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to at a minimum pre-sequestration levels.”
The AAMC supports this letter. AAMC-member medical schools and teaching hospitals are urged to sign the letter.
To sign the letter, please send your institution’s name as you wish it to be listed on the letter, and your name and title (for verification purposes) to Hayzell Gollopp at hgollopp@aamc.org by 4 p.m. on Friday, November 7.
Please share this letter with your coalitions and other organizations interested in NIH funding.
