Hillary Rodham Clinton to make appearance on campus Oct. 16

Former First Lady, United States Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will make a guest appearance at a special event in the Oakland University O'rena on Thursday, October 16, with doors opening at 3:30 p.m.

Mrs. Clinton will speak on behalf of the Democratic candidate for Governor, Congressman Mark Schauer and on behalf of Congressman Gary Peters, who is running for a seat in the U.S. Senate.

Oakland University Student Congress President Annie Meinberg will participate in the event along with the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies pep band performing.

Oakland University faculty, staff and students will be eligible to receive a ticket from the limited allotment for the event. Those tickets will be available at the Center for Student Activities service window (49 Oakland Center lower level) beginning at noon on Tuesday.

Complimentary tickets are also available through the Democratic Party office in Metro Detroit beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. No tickets will be sold or available for resale.

Tickets are required, but do not guarantee admission to the event. A security search will take place for all people attending the event and no bags or signs will be permitted inside the O'rena. However, cameras are permitted.

Parking shuttles will be available for people parking at the Meadow Brook Music Festival parking lot.

Beginning at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday night lot P17 will be closed and the row of parking spaces along Pioneer Drive in lot P16 will be reserved for the event.

The Recreation and Athletic Center will close Thursday at noon and reopen Friday morning at regular hours. The Bear Bus stop in front of the O'Rena will be cancelled on Thursday from noon until 8PM in order to comply with security for the event. There will remain stops at Varner Hall, as well as lot P-11.

Although every effort will be made to minimize disruptions on campus, this is an exciting time for public engagement. Your patience is appreciated.
