Macomb Town Hall, a longtime supporter of Oakland University, will kick off its 2014-15 luncheon/lecture series with a presentation by Anson Williams and Don Most on Tuesday, Oct. 14. The pair co-starred as Potsie and Ralph on the iconic American television series, “Happy Days,” alongside other prominent actors, including Ron Howard and Henry Winkler. They will share insights and experiences from decades-long careers in show business.
Radford W. Jones, who served as a Secret Service agent for President John F. Kennedy, will speak in the series on Tuesday, Jan. 20. During his 21-year career with the Secret Service, Jones was in charge of several field offices and was assigned to presidential, vice presidential and foreign dignitary details. He was responsible for security coordination during the 1976 Presidential Inauguration and three political conventions.
Jon Forlini & Company, from Best of Broadway, will speak on Tuesday, April 21. Forlini started a theater production company, What’s that Smell?, in 2008, to bring theater experiences to Macomb County. His first production, “Sylvia,” was performed at the Anton Art Center in Mount Clemens to standing room only audiences.
Proceeds from the events will benefit the Gladys McLean/Macomb Town Hall Endowed Scholarship at Oakland University. For nearly 45 years, the Macomb Town Hall series has generated funding to support scholarships for deserving Macomb County students, who now make up nearly one-third of the Oakland student body.
“When someone purchases a ticket for the Macomb Town Hall lecture/luncheon series, they are helping to ensure scholarships for Macomb county students (attending Oakland University) for many years to come,” said Cheri Daniels, president of Macomb Town Hall. “We hope that everyone will share the experience of our lecture/luncheons by inviting friends and family to buy a ticket and join us in supporting such a wonderful cause."
Luncheon and lecture presentations will take place at the Andiamo Banquet Center, on 14 Mile Road in Warren. Ticket holders may arrive at 10:15 a.m. and each lecture begins at 11 a.m. Tickets are $120 for three luncheons/lectures.
