The Michigan Association of CPAs (MICPA) invited a small group of OU Accounting students to meet the incoming Chair of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) Tommye Barie when she was in town for the September MICPA Board of Directors meeting.
During the small group session, Barie shared thoughts about the accounting profession and answered student questions. OU students who attended the session were: Nick Boni, Glen Doody, Daniel Dorsey, Marc Jacobs, Jasmine Moseley, Malika Pettigrew, Paloma Shah, David Spatafora, Daniel Wysocki, and Brittany Ziegelbaur.
"It was a great event to attend. (Barie) was very informative and friendly," says OU Accounting student David Spatafora. "Not only did she provide valuable information on the latest accounting trends, she also described herself and where she came from; which made the event very personable and relatable."
"It was a great pleasure to receive career insight from her," adds Jasmine Moseley, OU Accounting student. "As a student member of the MICPA, I have several opportunities throughout the year to meet and network with professionals on a personal level. I am always excited to attend sessions like this."
