OU INC Workshop Series: Data and Security Laws

OU INC hosted a Data and Security Laws: A Practical Approach workshop as part of our Growing Your Business, Tools For Success workshop series on August 21.

Hosted by Kathy Ossian, Founder and CEO of Ossian Law P.C., the workshop presented attendees with an insight into various threats individuals face both in at work and in their personal lives regarding data security. In the wake of the Target and Neiman Marcus breaches, new data security laws are being implemented at both the federal and state levels. Ossian helped attendees learn to navigate through existing laws, analyze pending legislation and offer suggestions on a practical approach towards addressing compliance.

With over 30 years of experience in information technology transactional work and commercial litigation, and having represented technology companies, including start-ups, financial institutions, for profit and non-profit organizations, Ossian’s extensive background provided valuable insight to attendees. Demonstrating the different internal and external threats, different laws protecting data security, and providing ways to help prevent data security breaches established just how important data security is in today’s world.

As a part of the OU INC Growing Your Business, Tools For Success workshop series, this workshop continued to build on the OU INC mission to educate. Providing business professionals, students, and entrepreneurs the opportunities to learn from experienced individuals and organizations to aid in the development and acceleration of their company/ideas is just one of OU INC’s goals. As OU INC continues with their mission to innovate, accelerate, and educate, look for continued opportunities in networking, workshops, and various educational opportunities.
