Automotive society drives OU student careers forward

The first student chapter of Society of Automotive Analysts provides OU students with networking opportunities, timely and useful data and a forum to discuss and disseminate ideas, concepts and solutions related to the global automotive industry.
Oakland University is launching the first student chapter of the Society of Automotive Analysts (SAA), connecting students with industry news, innovative technologies and networking opportunities.

“Oakland’s business school, its faculty, alumni and the SAA have helped to prepare me to launch my career in the auto industry,” said Joshua Yasoni, OU finance major. “I never thought that I’d be so involved in the auto industry as a student at 21.”

Yasoni is the president of OU’s student chapter of the Society of Automotive Analysts. The Chapter provides students with networking opportunities, timely and useful data and a forum to discuss and disseminate ideas, concepts and solutions related to the global automotive industry. In concert, these opportunities help students develop automotive thought leadership skills.

The SAA consists of automotive industry leaders, strategists and planners dedicated to learning about and sharing information on the latest trends, technologies and developments affecting the automotive industry.

To celebrate Oakland’s pioneering efforts in launching the first student chapter of SAA, an inauguration will be held on Monday, Sept. 15, at Meadow Brook Hall. The event will include a discussion of Oakland County’s connected infrastructure initiative and provide insights from professionals throughout the automotive industry, including Oakland County Connected Car Initiative Chairman Fred Nader, Ford Motor Company’s Futurist Sheryl Connelly, NA Continental AG’s Head of R&D Strategy and Intelligence
David Agnew, and Deputy County Executive Matt Gibb.

Networking and a strolling dinner will take place from 5:30-7 p.m., followed by an induction ceremony and inauguration program from 7-8:30 p.m. Those interested in registering for the event can do so at saaautoleaders.org or by calling (248) 804-6433.

Students interested in becoming a member of the OU chapter of SAA can contact Yasoni at
