Obituary: Professor Emeritus Floyd Willoughby

Professor Emeritus of Management Floyd Willoughby passed away July 16. Floyd began his career at Oakland University in 1983 as an Assistant Professor in Management. He became Associate Professor in 1990. During his tenure at Oakland University’s business school, he served on several committees and two administrative roles Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter Advisor (1992-93) and Associate Dean (1997-98). Floyd retired from Oakland University in August 2010.

“Dr. Willoughby was a great instructor in my graduate work and a wonderful mentor in my efforts as an adjunct at OU,” wrote Arthur Galvan an Oakland University MBA graduate on the funeral home’s memorial site. “He has been and will continue to be honored in my opening lecture of every MGT110 course that I instruct. I am eternally grateful.”

Floyd was a lifelong resident of Michigan and completed both his MBA (1977) and a Doctor of Philosophy (1983) at Michigan State University. 

Floyd leaves behind five children: Braeden, Jordan, Alexandra, Garth and Tiffany.
