As a reminder, there is no CGA monthly call for the months we meet in-person. The next CGA monthly call will be September 18th at 4 pm ET.
On August 15, APLU joined the Association of American Universities (AAU) in sending the attached letter to Shaun Donovan, Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) urging strong commitments to federal investments in higher education and research as the FY16 budget is developed. The letter requests investments in Pell Grant and other federal student financial aid programs; strong funding levels for graduate education and Title VI international programs; funding to expand the number of U.S. students studying abroad; and strong investments in federal science and research agencies, among other items.
The letter also went to the head of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the Department of Education, the Department of Defense, the National Institutes of Standards and Technology, the Department of Energy, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the Department of Agriculture. A copy of the letter is attached.
The White House recently announced that it will host a second College Opportunity Summit on December 4, 2014. It is their hope to build on the work of the first summit, hosted last January, while launching some new initiatives. The summit will focus on building sustainable collaborations in communities with successful K-12 and higher education partnerships that encourage students to pursue higher education and supporting collaboration among colleges to improve college completion.

The presentations from the 2014 CGA Summer Meeting are now available online on our “CGA Member Only” page on the APLU website. Individuals must have a username and password to gain access to that section of the website which provides access to meeting presentations as well as working papers, news items, discussion boards and other internal documents.
To create a username and password for the A۰P۰L۰U website and access the CGA Members Only site, click APLU login then select “New User Registration” and follow the directions provided. Once your registration has been accepted (usually immediately), the CGA-only site will be available to you, and you can access the presentations by following the instructions below. If you already have an APLU account but forgot the password, access the login page above and click on “Forgotten password” and follow the instructions.
