Welcome new business faculty for Fall 2014

Oakland University’s School of Business Administration is pleased to welcome new members to its faculty this fall.

 

 

About the new members

 

Dr. Brandon Beemer (right) completed his PhD and his Master of Science in Information Systems at University of Colorado, Denver in Computer Science and information Systems. He is Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified with extensive strategic process improvement experience in domains which include project management, payer and provider healthcare systems, enterprise architecture deployment, database management, and software development. Dr. Beemer is also an established Information Systems researcher with multiple IS publications including IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics; Decision Support Systems; and Future Internet Journal. 

 

Dr. Mihaela Dimitrova (left) received her Ph.D. from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Organizations and Strategic Management. She specializes in the areas of cross-cultural management and organizational behavior. Her specific research foci include global work experiences, job demands and resources, work-life relationships, and entrepreneurial behaviors. She has published in the Journal of International Management and her research has been presented at various conferences including the Academy of Management and the Academy of International Business. She has taught classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels in International Business, Organizational Behavior, and Human Resource Management.

 



Dr. Mary Hayden (right) earned her B.A. in philosophy, a Master of Public Administration and a PhD in Public Administration at Arizona State University. In addition to serving in a number of administrative staff positions at AZ State, Dr. Hayden taught a variety of business courses. Hayden has been a Special Lecturer in OU’s Department of Management and Marketing since 2006. As Visiting Special Instructor in Management and Marketing, she will teach a full load of courses and coordinate the activities of faculty who teach MGT110 Contemporary World Business a multi-section, general education course for non-business majors. 

 

Joseph Pia (left) began his career 19 years ago and is experienced in issues dealing with federal, state and international taxation. He earned his B.S. degree from the University of Detroit, J.D. degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, and his LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law.  He teaches tax and accounting.





Dr. Kim Serota (right) earned his PhD and MA in Communication from Michigan State University. He also holds a BA in Communication/Urban Studies from MSU. A faculty member at Oakland University since 2004, Serota has professional experience in organizations such as Allison Fisher International, Volkswagen of America, Ford Motor Company and MORPACE. Serota’s current projects look at the relationship between the frequency of lying and the ability to detect lies, both interpersonally and in advertising messages.


Wonjoo Yun (left) specializations include Marketing Strategy, Innovation, New Product Management, and Marketing-Finance Interface. His current research projects focus on the Product-harm Crisis Management and New Product Introduction Strategy. Dr. Yun’s teaching interests are in the areas of Marketing Strategy, New Product Management, and Principle of Marketing. He earned his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in Marketing, his M.S. from Northwestern University, and B.A. from Hanyang University, South Korea.
