July 2014 Newsletter: Mac-OU INC Happenings: "Mac-OU INC Host to Best Shot Competition and Workshop"

Mac-OU INC hosted the MidMichigan Innovation Center’s Best Shot Workshop and Competition this past month as an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to refine their sales pitch. The workshop details the necessary steps in obtaining a first customer, while the subsequent competition is the ideal opportunity for the entrepreneurs to receive constructive feedback on their sales pitch from a panel of judges.

Judges for the competition included Erik Meier of Sandler Training as well as Grace Hsia and Steve Wilson of the University of Michigan’s First Customer Program (FCP). Nine competing companies presented a wide range of products and services. Winners for the evening were Travis Johnson of foodjunky, first place, and Greg Czymbor, honorable mention. Congratulations from Mac-OU INC to the two winners, as well as all who pitched their innovations!

As first place winner, Johnson walked away with much more than the main prize of $500 cash. In addition, he is utilizing his award of legal service with Butzel Long to analyze founding documents and terms to prepare for foodjunky’s next round of financing. BiancoCPA is assisting with foodjunky’s financials to prepare for the next round of closing, Advicoach of Michigan will be providing business coaching and the FCP will be assisting with tailoring foodjunky’s marketing message, as well as Beauty Butler’s. We look forward to witnessing the advancement and future successes of these businesses!
