Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) plans to introduce a bill, the “Accelerating Biomedical Research Act,” which will allow for an increase in NIH funding, offset by adjusting the discretionary budget caps mandated by the Budget Control Act. More information on the bill can be found in the attached summary and FAQ document prepared by Senator Harkin’s staff. The AAMC has endorsed the bill. A copy of the letter is also attached.
