Research methodology uses photography to gain insight into health and wellness
A research project led by School of Health Science professor Rebecca Cheezum and two Master of Public Health graduate students, provided insight into what factors impact the health and wellness of tenants of the historic Bell Building in Detroit.
"Through Our Eyes: A PhotoVoice Exhibit" was a collaboration between the Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO) and Oakland University, funded by Oakland University and the Oakland University Prevention Research Center.
This project engaged 17 tenants of the Bell Building, a permanent, supportive housing site for formerly homeless adults. PhotoVoice is a research methodology that uses participatory photography to empower people to tell their stories through photos. The photos in this exhibit represent factors that impact the health and wellness of the NSO Bell Building tenants.
An exhibit was displayed on Oakland University's campus and at the Bell building during the month of June.
