1. Please Submit BY CLOSE OF BUSINESS on JUNE 2 Comments on the CMS Proposed Dispute Initiation and Resolution Process
CMS seeks comments on their proposed process for reporting disputes and resolutions through the Open Payments system. Comments are DUE BY CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON MONDAY, JUNE 2. Feel free to use part or all of the attached AAMC comment letter in your submission. Please share a copy of your comments with our AAMC colleague Heather Pierce: hpierce@aamc.org
2. CMS Enterprise Portal Registration Begins June 1
According to CMS, physicians and teaching hospital delegates may register in the CMS Enterprise Portal starting June 1. Registration is the first of two steps necessary to access to records in the “Sunshine” database. Physicians and teaching hospital delegates will still need to register in the Open Payments system to access the records. Open Payments registration is not yet available. After completing the process, individuals will be able to review and resolve (during a limited window of time) disputed records. According to CMS, the public will be able to access the database by Sept. 30, 2014. As details become available, the AAMC will share updates about the timing of “step two” registration, record review availability, and publication of the public database.
