OU and Troy Beaumont employee Kim Maes, at the piano, suggested a concert at Oakland University to benefit heart health. |
Oakland University music majors and alumni are helping to raise funds for heart health programs at Beaumont Hospital, Troy through a “Music with Heart” concert at Varner Recital Hall on the OU campus.
The concert is scheduled for Saturday, June 28 at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $20 and can be purchased online.
Donations will also be accepted. For more information, call the Beaumont Foundation at (248) 551-5330.
The idea for the concert originated with Beaumont, Troy employee Kim Maes, who is a musician at Oakland University. She recruited other colleagues to join together for this musical performance.
“There has been heart disease in my family which ended the lives of my uncle and two grandfathers at very young ages,” says Maes. “I am doing this event in memory of them."
“Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women,” says Phillip Kraft, M.D. medical director, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Beaumont, Troy. “I hope that people will join in supporting this cause.”
