Intermittent Meadow Brook Road closures planned for Friday, May 16

The University will host the 2014 Clinton River Water Festival from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Friday, May 16, and the event will pose substantial impacts on campus traffic and parking.

In all, nearly 1,500 fifth-grade students, teachers and festival presenters will gather in the central area of campus to learn about the Clinton River and related topics such as storm water, wastewater treatment, soil erosion, wetlands, creeks and streams, habitat and sources of pollution.

Those studying and working on campus should be aware that 24 buses will unload passengers in the Wilson Blvd. area between 8:30 and 10 a.m., and will subsequently park in the P1 lot. The same buses will load students for their trip home at 2 p.m.

A 10 a.m. matinee performance at Meadow Brook Theater will bring nine more buses and 500 additional students to the Wilson Blvd. area at 9:30 a.m.

To help safely and efficiently manage vehicular and pedestrian traffic, OUPD officers will close Meadowbrook Drive between West Oakland and the Traffic Circle intermittently.

To the extent possible, OU commuters should avoid this area during times when buses are unloading and loading.

Campus safety officials appreciate the patience and cooperation of faculty, staff, students and visitors during special events such as the Clinton River Water Festival.
