Every child should experience the thrill of engaging with live performance. There’s nothing like sharing a space with a group of actors and feeling their presence and energy. This spring, students in Oakland University’s theatre program will stage a children’s show that promises to entertain individuals of all ages.
“Freckleface Strawberry the Musical,” based on the beloved New York Times best-selling books by celebrated actor Julianne Moore, is a brand new family musical. Audience members will feel like they have stepped into the pages of the book as Freckleface and friends learn to love the skin they're in.
Freckleface Strawberry will do anything to get rid of her freckles – from scrubbing them with soap, to caking on makeup, and even wearing a ski mask to school. With the help of her loveable schoolmates, including an amazingly talented ballerina, a cute jock, a charming ditz and a totally kooky teacher, Freckleface learns that everyone is different - and that's what makes everyone special.
Performances are on Friday, May 16 at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m. in Varner Recital Hall on the Oakland University campus. Maps of the campus are available at oakland.edu/map or by searching for "Varner Hall" on a smartphone. Ample free parking will be available.
Tickets are $10 general admission and $6 for students and children. Tickets can be purchased in advance without service fees at startickets.com or by phone at (800) 585-3737.
