April 2014 Newsletter: Partner Happenings: "Mac-OU INC at Oakland University's Inaugural TEDxOU"

At the TEDxOaklandUniversity event on March 15, Mac-OU INC participated in TEDx Labs, an interactive and eye-catching set of displays to inspire innovation and creativity. Mac-OU INC team members orchestrated a “Leaning the Towers” activity, which involved TEDxOU attendees building structures out of staples and index cards to support ceramic tiles. This activity openly demonstrates important Lean concepts such as metrics and how they drive behaviors. As Mac-OU INC’s Lean Diversification series is endorsed by the Michigan Lean Consortium and is currently in a contract with the State of Michigan for employee trainings, the theme was very fitting to some of Mac-OU INC’s current activity.

TEDxOU attendees also enjoyed TEDTalks from inspiring indivuals such as Jenenne Whitfield of the Heidelberg Project and Dr. Terri Orbuch aka The Love Doctor. Mac-OU INC looks forward to participating in 2015!

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a conference in California 26 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with many initiatives. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, talks, video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
