SBA’s AMA team recognized at intercollegiate conference

Oakland University’s American Marketing Association (AMA) team comprised of business students Maria Arellano and Eve Lin achieved third place in the marketing strategy competition organized as a part of the 36th Annual International Collegiate Conference of the AMA in New Orleans, LA, this month.

OU's AMA Chapter Award recipients.“We are very proud of our team’s success,” says Mohan Pisharodi, associate professor, marketing, and faculty advisor for the SBA’s AMA. “To understand the magnitude of our team’s success, one must recognize that there are around 10,000 registered AMA members in the nearly 500 AMA student chapters in universities and similar institutions worldwide.  Nearly 150 chapters participated in the annual conference.  However, only 76 well-motivated chapters participated in the ‘marketing strategy competition’ and a student chapter is not allowed to send more than one team.  That we came out in third position and in the top four percent of all competing participants is truly remarkable!”

The Oakland University business school congratulates Maria and Eve.

Pisharodi adds: “I am privileged to have been with this team when it received this significant recognition in front of an audience of more than 1,200 students and accompanying faculty advisors.”

At the same conference, OU's AMA chapter also won Exemplary Collegiate Chapter Performance Recognition in Chapter Planning
