Fastenal welcomed at Employer Spotlight day

The ACHIEVE program collaborated with Oakland's Career Services office to offer the first of what they hope will be many "Employer Spotlight" days.

On March 13, Fastenal, a Fortune 1000 company, spent the day on campus. Three management-level professionals volunteered to participate in mock interviews with nine ACHIEVE 399 students in the morning. Fastenal then hosted a lunch for business school faculty, staff and administrators, followed by a Meet & Greet in Elliott Hall where students were invited to network and learn about the company.

The day wrapped up with an information session about Fastenal, and employment and career opportunities with this company. Four current Oakland University students who are employed with Fastenal spoke about their experience with the company. Later, Steve Carpenter, district manager, spoke at an evening ACHIEVE 399 Business Etiquette workshop and shared his personal observations and tips for new hires. We’re proud to report that at least seven OU students or graduates are currently employed at Fastenal.

Employers interested in scheduling an Employer Spotlight day for their organization should contact Brian Partie (Career Services) at partie@oakland.edu, or Sherri Kerby (ACHIEVE) at kerby@oakland.edu.
