DSO offers discounts for evening of fairy tale music

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra is offering the Oakland University community a special offer to attend its performance of select fairy tale music.

Leonard Slatkin will lead the orchestra in a musical trip from the Mother Goose stories about Tom Thumb and Sleeping Beauty to Scheherazade telling the story of One Thousand and One Nights. The event also will include James MacMillan’s Piano Concerto No. 3 performed by Jean-Ives Thibaudet.

Faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends can purchase tickets for the Sunday, March 30, concert at $10 or $20 for Main Floor seats, $20 for Dress Circle seats and $10 and Mid Balcony seats.. Standard prices are $50 and $25, respectively.

This offer is available online only and tickets must be purchased by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 21. It does not apply to previously purchased tickets. Seats are limited and the offer may be discontinued prior to March 21 depending on demand.

To order tickets, visit dso.org, mouse over March 21 in the performance calendar and click on “Buy Tickets.” Enter the promo code “CORPEXPRESS” and click on “Apply.” Then select seats, ensure the applied ticket price is correct and check out.

The concert  will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Orchestra Hall in Detroit. The hall opens two hours prior to the performance. For additional information, visit dso.org.
