Chrysler supports SAE racing team's goal to reach the top

The Oakland University Formula SAE team was pleased on Thursday to accept a $5,000 contribution to its competitive racing program from Chrysler Corporation.

The check was presented by Oakland University alumnus Jason Ryska, who serves as plant manager for the Chrysler Jefferson North Assembly Plant.

Also in attendance at Thursday's presentation event were alumni and Chrysler employees Denice Malinowski, Bruce Williams Jr., Stephen Parker, Greg Weber and Mike Turner, along with engineering professor and SAE mentor Brian Sangeorzan and members of the SAE team.

Oakland University School of Engineering and Computer Science Dean Louay Chamra and Associate Dean Lorenzo Smith also attended the presentation.

Ryska spoke fondly about his time on the SAE racing team at OU and said he was excited to be able to give something back. Both he and Chamra encouraged current team members to aggressively pursue their goals and not to take "no" for an answer.

The OU team is currently ranked second in the state. Members say they hope that this contribution will help them take the top spot in the near future.
