Hollie L. Lepley Award Celebrates 50 Years of OU Athletics

The 2014 Department of Athletics Hollie L. Lepley Hall of Honor ceremony will once again honor alumni athletes and alumni who have made a difference for the OU athletics department.

The Hall of Honor is named after former Director of Athletics Hollie L. Lepley who founded athletics at Oakland University. This year, the event will celebrate 50 years of OU Athletics as well as recognize contributions from alumni and former OU athletes.

The purpose of the Hall of Honor is to recognize and honor those individuals (student-athletes, coaches, and athletic staff members) who have made significant contributions to the success of Oakland University's athletics program through their participation or involvement in intercollegiate athletics at Oakland University.

Induction is considered for alumni athletes who have made a difference with their sport and in their community. Alumni have to have graduated from Oakland at least 10 years ago to be eligible. The Community Service Award and the George Wibby Award are received by alumni and staff who have made a significant impact for OU Athletics.

The event will be held January 24 at the Marriott Centerpoint Hotel. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a reception and be followed by the awards ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Dinner will be served after the induction.

Tickets may be purchased for the event at $80 per person. Sponsorships are also available. If you are interested in attending or sponsoring the event, please contact Jenny Swiatowy at (248) 370-2669 or swiatowy@oakland.edu no later than January 17.
