There are nearly 18,000 businesses that call Macomb County home. They are important not only for the direct jobs they create but also for the many ways that they contribute to our communities in general.

  • Champion of Workforce Development – significant job growth utilizing innovative ways to hire, train and keep employees focused on continuous improvement practices
  • Diversification Leader – success in balancing a customer base to serve multiple industries
  • Energy Efficiency Expert – best use of green technologies to reduce energy consumption and reduce operating expenses
  • Corporate Citizen – meaningful involvement in community projects through service and support
  • Startup Business of the Year - in operation for four years or less with more than one employee
  • Economic Development Partner of the Year – department collaborator that provides outstanding service in conjunction with department clients (selected by the department)

Top 5 Reasons to Nominate Your Company:

  1. Your organization has been successful in one or more of these endeavors: building an effective workforce, diversifying sources of revenue, implementing energy efficiencies, supporting our community through service and giving, or starting a new business.
  2. The nomination process is online and simple: provide company background information and submit a 300-word summary about how it fits the category.
  3. Every nominated company will receive two free tickets to a special awards breakfast on February 11, 2014. Attended by nearly 300 people last year, it is a great networking and learning event featuring interesting speakers.
  4. Every nominee will be recognized on the MCPED website, in the program book and in related media releases.
  5. A single recipient in each category will take home an impressive award - definitely worthy of a prominent location in your workplace - presented by County Executive Mark A. Hackel.
