Career mixer highlights opportunities with German companies

Several local employers with German ties will converge on Oakland University's campus for the first annual German-American Career Mixer. Sponsored by the OU German Club, the event will take place from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, in Oakland Center Gold Room A.

Following introductory remarks from Dr. Christopher Clason, professor of German, representatives from Brose, BASF, Cultural Vistas and Deloitte will deliver presentations on their respective companies, along with information on potential internship and career opportunities. In addition, display tables will be set up to allow students to learn more about each company and speak with representatives.

“With this event, the German Club aims to bring employers together with prospective employees and to afford students from a broad range of disciplines the opportunity to hear about how exciting and fulfilling it can be working for a German-affiliated company,” said Elizabeth Iwanski, OU German Club member.

“We hope this event will advance the German-American relationship, which is one of the region's unique and longstanding strengths.”
