Joint Ventures & Teaming Agreements

The saying 'two heads are better than one' often applies to bidding on contracts. However, when two companies team together they need to make clear each other's roles and responsibilities early. This presentation will discuss teaming and joint venture agreements generally, special considerations for government contracts and then one method to 'get an edge' on the competition by participating in a federal mentor-protégé program. This program can be one of the best ways for a small business to learn new skills and improve its competitive standing for government contracts. Mentors may benefit by gaining socioeconomic and small business credit with procuring agencies and also obtaining the ability to compete, together with protégés, as a joint venture on small business and 8(a) set-aside contracts.
