OU community reminded to always park on campus

Oakland University faculty, students and staff are reminded to plan ahead and always park on campus.

Owners and managers of businesses adjacent to campus have contacted university administrators to express concerns over campus community members parking in off-campus lots and reducing the number of spots available for their patrons.

The problem has become significant, and business owners and managers will begin towing the vehicles of non-customers from their lots at the expense of vehicle owners.

The university offers free parking and has adequate spaces to meet the demand. The 2013-14 parking plan addressed the loss of on-campus parking spaces due to ongoing construction through a variety of methods, including temporary lots and the addition of on campus Bear Bus transportation. Police and facilities management personnel advise university faculty, staff, students and visitors to use the P-11 temporary lot located on the southeast corner of Meadow Brook Road and Ravine Drive.
