Oakland University business students gained important insights into what CPA firms look for in candidates when the OU Career Services and several accounting student professional organizations co-sponsored a pre-recruiting event panel in Elliott Hall August 22.
With a panel comprised of human relations professionals and CPAs from six firms that actively recruit on campus attendees heard first-hand how to prepare for the coming recruiting season, including information on such topics as how to best present a positive image in both formal and informal interview sessions.
During the 90-minute session officers of the three sponsoring student organizations – Beta Alpha Psi, National Association of Black Accountants and OASIS – asked the panelists questions. Professor Donna Free moderated the session. A networking period followed the discussion. Panelists included (pictured left to right): Lauren Rossi, PwC; LaDonna Upshaw, Deloitte; Theresa Hickey, Clayton and McKervey; Eshe Baker, Plante and Moran; Pam Stromeyer, Rehmann; and Steve Linville, Ernst and Young.
