Networking events provide opportunities to catch up with fellow alumni

Networking events offer the chance to catch up with fellow alumni and learn about the advances OU is making in educating students. Young alumni took networking to new heights at the inaugural Boyne Mountain Adventure Weekend on May 17-19. Recent graduates reconnected while enjoying a zip line adventure and twilight canoe ride.

On June 21, over 40 alumni joined the alumni association for a night at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Glenn McIntosh, interim vice president for student affairs, presented an OU update; guests were able to attend Friday Night Live! at the DIA following the reception.

The SBA hosted a networking reception for alumni from the Applied Technology in Business (ATiB) program on July 18. Alumni gathered at Ganbei Chinese Restaurant in downtown Rochester to say farewell to Dean Mohan Tanniru as he transitions leadership of the SBA to Michael Mazzeo, Ph.D., for the 2013 academic year. Ganbei is owned by ATiB alum Maher Faik, SBA '09.

Alumni and friends braved the scorching heat on July 15 for the annual OUAA Golf Challenge on the exclusive R&S Sharf Golf Course on the campus of Oakland University. Golfers enjoyed lunch, 18 holes of golf, and an afterglow reception with a silent auction. All proceeds from the outing benefited the OUAA Scholarship Program.

Oakland University is taking a road trip to network with alumni and friends in the greater Traverse City area on August 9. Dr. Graeme Harper, dean of The Honors College, will join the alumni and community engagement team to provide an OU update. Click here to register.
