For the second year in a row, the Oakland University women's basketball team has earned the NCAA Public Recognition Award, according to the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
The award is given to programs with a multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) in the top 10 percent in the nation for their sport.
The awards for 2013 were based on the 2011-12 multi-year APR and represent the continued dedication of women's basketball to the Oakland mission of producing graduates and champions. The top scores this year ranged from 978 to a perfect score of 1000.
Oakland has earned the award six times in school history, and both the women's basketball team and women's golf team were presented with the award last year.
The team, led by Head Coach Beckie Francis, will receive a congratulatory letter of recognition from the NCAA.
