Interpretation workshop offered

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures is organizing a three-day interpretation workshop for advanced modern languages students at Oakland University. This workshop is designed to familiarize students with key techniques in consecutive and simultaneous interpretation. The seminar will also discuss how to jump-start your career as an interpreter.

The workshop will be held from 3-5 p.m. from June 3‐5, 2013 in Wilson Hall, room 409.

This workshop will be conducted by Amparo Jiménez, professor of translation at Jaume I University (Spain). Prof. Jiménez has published several books on translation and interpretation theory and applied techniques: Primeros pasos hacia la interpretación: Manual de interpretación ingles-español (2012), Interpreting naturally: A tribute to Brian Harris (Peter Lang, 2011), Interpreting Brian Harris: Recent advances in translatology (Peter Lang, 2012) and Logische Kohäsio: EnQualitätsparameter beim Simultandolmetschen en Gunter Narr Verlag (2011).

To enroll, send an email to Prof. Adolfo Campoy (
campoycu@oakland.edu) expressing your interest. Please attach an unofficial copy of your academic transcript (only advanced students who have completed 400 level courses will be accepted).

Don’t procastrinate!

The workshop is free, but there are limited available seats.
