Prestigious Recognition for OU students: Goldwater
Energetic Honors College Council member, Professor Brad Roth, professor of physics and Director of Oakland's Center for Biomedical Research (CBR) reports that two Oakland University students have been awarded prestigious honorable mentions in this years Barry Goldwater Scholarship program.
The Barry Goldwater Scholarship program is one of the most notable of national undergraduate awards recognizing students majoring in mathematics, science and engineering. The scholarship was established to encourage distinguished scholars to advance and excel in science and mathematics.
Professor Roth works in conjunction with The Honors College overseeing the Goldwater Scholarship, and is currently featured as one of the inaugural OU Center for Undergraduate Research and Leadership "Champions of Research".
“What set these students off is their high GPA and academic record plus their research experience,” Roth said. “We are always encouraging students who are early in their career, who have begun doing their research, and who have a strong GPA to apply for this award.”
For more information, visit the Goldwater Scholarship website. Undergraduates interested in applying for the 2014 award are advised to monitor the OU-Goldwater Scholarship Program site or contact Roth at (248) 370-4871 or roth@oakland.edu.
