April 2013 Newsletter: Executive-in-Residence Lori Bianco, BiancoCPA
Lori Bianco, Director of Perfect Service at Bianco and Company PLC (BiancoCPA), assists early-stage companies with properly aligning their finances as an Executive-in-Residence (EIR) at the Macomb-OU INCubator.
Lori has met with several incubator client companies to gain an understanding of their challenges in developing accounting systems with processes and internal controls. She is educating several clients on QuickBooks set up and application utilizing real, historical data. The goal is for the companies’ financials to provide customized, accurate data for sound management decisions.
Lori has developed Bookkeeping 411 and 911 as two ongoing incubator training opportunities. The first is a group primer on general bookkeeping information; the latter includes 90 minutes of uniquely tailored one-on-one time. These sessions are both open to the general public.
“I most enjoy the teaching aspect of my EIR tenure and welcome opportunities to impact small business success. It’s personally rewarding to help entrepreneurs develop a good foundation in the design of their accounting systems, processes and internal controls,” Lori said.
“I love seeing the proverbial light bulb click on when they’re able to read, understand and use their own financial data as a tool in business decision-making.”
Lori has held positions in public accounting and in the private manufacturing sector before founding her own practice in 1997. In addition to working with local entrepreneurs, BiancoCPA helps global companies locate subsidiaries in the US.
Through her practice, Lori has gained an understanding of, and experience with, the very same issues that entrepreneurs have in their own business establishment and development process. In her practice’s 15+ years, she has served many startups in sectors ranging from manufacturing and skilled trades to service, retail, real estate and non-profits.
Lori is a trustee of the Anton Art Center in Mount Clemens, a board member and treasurer of the Michigan chapter of the Dante Alighieri Society and a board member of Michigan Works! Macomb/St. Clair Workforce Development Board. She also mentors youth about money management, financial responsibility and the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship.
The Macomb-OU INCubator Executive-in-Residence program invites clients of the incubator to collaborate with business specialists, in an effort to bring the utmost in success to the small businesses of metro Detroit.
