Clean Energy Research Assistant at OU INC Receives Honor
Dionysios Panagiotopoulos, the Clean Energy Research Center (CERC) assistant at OU INC,
has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the International Students and Scholars office.
Panagiotopoulos, is an exchange visitor from Greece. He came to OU INC in
July 2012 and serves as a research assistant to Jim Leidel, CERC Director.
"I want to thank Ms Amy Butler, Ms Laurie Boccia, and Mr. Jim Leidel for their help.
Last July was my first time not only in Michigan, but in the U.S. too. I did not know anyone
here and these people helped me very much." Panagiotopoulos said.
Dionysios has an undergraduate degree in computer science from University of Piraeus
in Greece and is a candidate for his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Oakland University.
During his time at OU INC, Panagiotopoulos has worked on several projects.
His first job was to update the monitoring system of the 10KW PV systems at the students
apartments roof at Oakland University and to find the same system for the 50KW PV system at the Human Health Building.
Right now he is working under the supervision of Jim Leidel for a new PV mounting system.
