Students prepare for final exams April 19-25

As the end of the semester quickly approaches, students begin their preparation for exam week. Final exams are scheduled from Friday, April 19, through Thursday, April 25.

All exams are held in the regular classroom at the time indicated by the instructor. The time and location of group examinations will be announced by the instructor during the last week of classes. View the full winter 2013 final exam schedule here.

Final exams for online courses will be held on Saturday, April 20. Details on the time and location of each exam will be provided by the instructor.

Similar to last semester, Oakland University Student Congress will host the Exam Cram at Kresge Library from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, Saturday, April 20, and Sunday, April 21. The organization will supply students with free donuts, coffee, snacks and study supplies to get them through the long, sleepless nights before finals.

Students can get a number of quick tips and university resources by viewing the campus study guide.

To help students in their preparation, Oakland University Housing, along with the Academic Peer Mentors and Student Success Assistant Michelle Applebee, have provided a list of useful tips. 

Tips include:

• Prioritize exams and determine which ones need the most attention. Consider factors such as the amount of material covered and the effect the exam will have on a final grade.
• Start studying early. Information is better retained when it is reviewed in small increments over time, compared to cramming the night before the test.
• Take frequent breaks. A good rule of thumb is to take a break after an hour of studying to rest and recharge.
• Students should relax and focus on doing their best.
