Fashion show fundraiser brings glitz to Women of OU scholarship

By Carin Inglis, media relations assistant

The Women of OU Critical Difference Scholarship Committee will host an elegant affair this spring, with their annual fashion show luncheon and fundraiser from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April, 17, in the Oakland Center Banquet Rooms.

The theme for this year’s show is “Glitz and Glamour” and models, including former scholarship recipients and university vice presidents, will showcase outfits from Carson’s of the Village of Rochester Hills.

Admission is $20, and there will be raffle drawings for specialty gift baskets with tickets at $5 for 7 or $10 for 15. All money raised will be used to fund future Critical Difference Scholarships. Guests should register online by Wednesday, April 10, or complete and submit the registration form along with a check to Linda Oliver or Ann Dieters-Williams in Development Services located in John Dodge House.

Mrs. Emelie Champagne, one of the distinguished founding members and creators of the Women of OU organization and the Critical Difference Scholarship program, will be a special guest at the fashion show.

For more than 30 years, the Women of OU organization has supported the university by building and promoting a spirit of community and providing service to the students, university and surrounding community. One of the group's most important contributions has been the endowed Critical Difference Scholarship. Supported through participation in the All-University Fund Drive, direct donor contributions and fundraising events such as the fashion show, the scholarships are awarded to individuals who are single heads-of-household, as defined by IRS tax code, whose education was interrupted for a period of at least one year.
