The excitement of the recent national election and inauguration may have subsided, but Oakland University students, faculty and staff will have a unique opportunity to learn about the inner workings of state government at the 16th annual OU Day at the Capitol.
This free event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, and will offer a wide array of activities. Participants will:
Attend group meetings with elected officials
Attend committee meetings
Observe the State Senate and House in session
Lunch in the state capitol with House and Senate members
Additionally, participants will have an opportunity to tour the state capitol, Michigan Supreme Court Learning Center and Michigan Historical Center.
“The annual OU Day at the Capitol is a great opportunity for members of the Oakland University community to watch the legislature in action and meet with elected officials,” said Rochelle Black, vice president for Government and Community Relations. “This event is open to all OU students, faculty, staff and alumni and their participation is highly encouraged.”
OU Day at the Capitol is sponsored by the OU Office of Government Relations, Oakland University Student Congress and Project Upward Bound.
