Vote now to help WXOU win national mtvU college station award

Oakland University’s student radio station WXOU-FM is garnering positive press yet again, with its nomination for the College Radio Station Woodie Award. The station is one of 25 from across the nation that are up for mtvU’s prestigious honor.

The nomination for the Woodie Award comes on the heels of a slew of broadcasting awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation (MABF), including the College Station of the Year Award for the second year running.

“Doing what we do at the MAB competition is one thing, but this is a whole other level,” said Sean Varicalli, WXOU general manager. “I mean, we are already in the top 25 programs in the country, so win or lose, it's an incredible honor.”

“We have never been nominated before, so we don't really know what to anticipate or what to expect. We know that this is a testament to all of our hard work and dedication to our listeners and community. We know that our listeners will come out and vote as much as they can to get us to Austin Texas, where the award show is held and taped.”

The college radio stations with the highest votes will make it into the "Top Ten Round" of competition.

Voting will close at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20. For more information or to cast a vote, follow the link or visit the WXOU-FM 88.3 website at wxou.org
WXOU-FM has been selected by mtvU as one of the Top 25 College Radio Stations in the country. Vote by Feb. 20 for WXOU 88.3 to bring the title home to Oakland.
