Support Health Funding!

A۰P۰L۰U member institutions interested in signing on to the letter are asked to follow the instructions provided below:

SUPPORT HEALTH FUNDING! TO SIGN ON, E-MAIL CRDFELLOW@DC-CRD.COM BY FEBRUARY 13

 Dear Advocates,

Each year, the Coalition for Health Funding leads the health community in securing increased funding for health agencies and programs, including NIH, CDC, SAMHSA, HRSA, AHRQ, FDA, and the Indian Health Service, among others. With the collective appreciation that “a rising tide lifts all boats,” the Coalition works collaboratively to secure a strong discretionary health funding allocation or “Function 550” in the budget resolution, which then increases the funds available for agency appropriations, which directly impacts your specific federal funding priorities.

Early this year the Coalition has convened a Health Summit with leaders of the health agency coalitions to develop a funding recommendation for FY 2014 Function 550.  The Health Summit recommends $65 billion for Function 550, a $7 billion increase over CBO’s estimated FY 2013 budget authority level of $58 billion. This request is consistent with the community’s FY 2012 Function 550 recommendation.

To date, 70 organizations have signed the letter to support health funding.

We will circulate the letter with signers next Thursday.

In the meantime, please consider signing on!!! Our goal is 500!!!

We understand that the House and Senate will adopt budget resolutions this year, and we want to make sure our voice is heard. During these fiscally challenging times, it is critically important that the health community unite with one voice in support of a strong and sustained investment in discretionary health programs. Please join us and sign on!

I encourage you to forward this message to your friends in the health community and urge them to sign on, as well.
