Regina Carter, OU Jazz pair up for movie-themed family concert

This weekend, renowned violinist Regina Carter will join the Oakland Jazz Quartet for a family concert featuring renditions of songs from favorite family movies such as Cars, Goodfellas, Apollo 13, Finding Nemo and more. The concert will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, in the Varner Recital Hall.

Regina Carter is a Detroit-born American jazz violinist who has performed with several symphony orchestras as well as respected artists such as Aretha Franklin, Billy Joel and Mary J. Blige. Carter has also recorded seven albums, including her most recent, Reverse Thread, in 2010. For more information, visit reginacarter.com

Attendees, both young and old, are encouraged to dress up as their favorite movie character. Admission is free for children 12 and under who wear costumes. General admission is $20, student tickets are $10 and children 12 and under will be $6.
