Make a difference with a bachelor's degree in social work

Are you a good listener and problem-solver? You may have the right skills for a career in social work. With the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics predicting faster than average job growth in this area, it’s the right time to explore your career options. Now, students can complete the requirements of an Oakland University Bachelor of Social Work through classes conveniently located in downtown Mount Clemens. 

Graduates will be prepared for careers in a wide variety of fields, including public welfare agencies, prisons and correctional facilities, victim services organizations, schools, adoption agencies, hospitals, nursing homes, state and local agencies, and much more.

A bachelor of social work prepares you for a career in helping others, and challenges you to become an advocate for positive social change. Graduates have the necessary skills to join the work force as counselors, case managers, advocates and outreach specialists who work with all types of clients, including children, families, the elderly, the mentally ill and the disabled. Employers recognize the specialized knowledge, skills, values and ethics provided in a bachelor of social work program, and trust that our graduates are ready to make an immediate, positive impact in their agencies and communities.

Graduates of an accredited BSW program are eligible for an accelerated plan of study when they choose to pursue a master’s degree in social work.

Available Oakland University’s Anton Frankel Center in Mount Clemens, the Bachelor of Social Work is among 25 degree programs Oakland University offers at its three Macomb County locations.
