Students who know little about the more than 200 student organizations at Oakland University will have an opportunity to learn what the university has to offer and how to get involved at the Winter Involvement Fair.
The fair will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, in the Oakland Center Fireside Lounge.
Each unique organization will have a display detailing their activities, and current members will be present to recruit and answer questions.
There are clubs dedicated to all interests, including fashionistas, medical students and Harry Potter fanatics. Some new and unique organizations on campus include the Muggle Quidditch League of OU, Poker Club of Oakland University and the Nachale! Dance Team.
“Being involved helps students connect to the university on a different level,” said Allison Webster, assistant director of Student Organization Programs. “Students can also gain hands-on experience through student organizations. From budgeting and running a meeting to event planning, to even conflict resolutions, students can gain skills that can easily be applied to a future career.”
